Research Seminar on Fast and Sustainable Fashion – June 3, 2026

The Centre for Business Law and International Trade (CDACI), in collaboration with the French Association Droit et Management, is pleased to organize a research seminar entitled “A Discussion on Fast and Sustainable Fashion” on June 3, 2026.

This seminar will bring together researchers, professors, postdoctoral fellows, doctoral candidates, and legal practitioners from Canada and abroad to discuss current issues related to fast fashion, sustainability, governance, and regulation in the fashion industry.

Description : the seminar A Discussion on Fast and Sustainable Fashion brings together legal scholars and interdisciplinary researchers to examine how law can respond to the environmental, social, and regulatory challenges posed by the fast fashion industry. As accelerated production and consumption intensify waste, labor exploitation, and intellectual property disputes, the conference explores emerging legal and ethical frameworks for promoting sustainability, accountability, and innovation across global supply chains. Through comparative and forward-looking perspectives, the program addresses topics such as IP protection and copying, human rights and forced labor, corporate responsibility and ESG compliance, circular economy mechanisms, data governance, and the cultural dynamics of trend-driven consumption. Designed for legal professionals and researchers alike, the conference offers critical insights into the evolving governance of fashion at the intersection of creativity, commerce, and sustainability.

The event will take place from 8:45 a.m. to 3:50 p.m. at the François-Chevrette Lounge (A-3464), Faculty of Law, Université de Montréal, and will also be accessible via Zoom.

A certificate of participation representing 5 hours and 25 minutes of continuing education will be issued.
